| Why aren't we winning the war in Iraq? (Part 1) | Date Released: 06/24/2005 |
| There are two essential reasons that help make the resistance in Iraq so strong. I will not talk about the first one, except to say that when we attack someone, we become the Destroyers (reality in any war). Once the enemy is defeated, the victor has to become the Builder, and we are not such a society, and our Government is not a Builder. Even though it is an essential step in winning, it's not the main reason the terrorists are so resilient - they are being helped.
The terrorists know whom they are fighting (better than so many of us). They know about Vietnam... They remember how we left Afghanistan helpless to be taken over by Taliban... They can see how little we are doing in Afghanistan today - leaving the power in the hands of the warlords... They remember how we left Saddam Hussein in power after the war in Kuwait... More importantly, they know that decency in our country is under constant attack and evil is loud and strong!
All that terrorists need to do is to listen to 'our' representatives and recognize their allies: the calls to stop interrogations of terrorists or to close the jails, demands to have an 'exit strategy' and set the date for withdrawal of American troops... Terrorists know that evil are powerful in America and the decency will be silenced. They only have to hang on long enough for the evil in American society to confuse and frighten the public. And it is happening already.
You do not hear the outrage from 'our' representatives about the evil's onslaught on the troops and innocent civilians in Iraq. They don't care! You did not hear the objections over the release of hundreds of prisoners from the Abu Ghraib prison after the so called 'abuse scandal' - that was good for so many in our government, in our society and for the terrorists. Many of those 'innocent' terrorists went back to rejoin the fighting and are killing our soldiers and innocent Iraqis. And, of course, you do not hear the demands from ‘our’ representatives to provide the Iraqi people with tangible social benefits, to make them feel that America cares!
So, how can we win this war when we are surrounded by so much Evil, and so many of us don't know "who am I?" and "where do I stand?"
