Letter to Lou Dobbs on illegal immigrationDate Released: 05/07/2007
Hi Lou,

Your "legal" point of view and your anti-refugee antics are becoming quite frightening.

I read about such "legal" acts of inhumanity during the earlier years of America:
When captured, "illegal" runaway slaves were savagely beaten – "legally", for running away from their "legal owners." As well as the ones who protected the slaves were accused and punished for breaking the law by "illegally harboring someone else’s property."
When Native Americans and their source of food were being decimated, the "law of the land" was being used as an excuse to carry out the massacre.
Many more throughout the history were accused of being "illegal" and slaughtered, like diseased cattle, in the gas chambers.

No, you do not call for the slaughter – I know; with your rhetoric you simply awaken the fear and hatred towards the most vulnerable in our society!
Shouldn’t we pay the price for allowing the parasites in Washington to have our borders left unprotected for so long, while enticing the impoverished with the American dream?

I wonder, Lou, if the law of this land had only one principal - the decency, would you be able to find the courage to live your life according to this long forgotten value? Well, that’s not for me to answer.

But I do know that one day - in another life time - you’ll find yourself in some foreign land, breaking your back for meager wages, while trying to support your family back home. Being ‘friendly’ with the pain of hunger and abuse, sitting in a room full of strangers, after a long day’s work with very little to show for - other than your aching body, you will notice some guy on TV...Lou…something, accusing "illegals", like yourself, of destroying their land and their way of life. You will smile instinctively, imagining the potential power and the threat such speck as yourself is accused of. But you will be surprised by the silent tears streaming down your cheeks, and unable to hold them back and the swelling pain of injustice, you will be struck by how insensitive and cruel some people are... or, possibly, by a memory of long ago - from another lifetime, reminding you of something similar you might have done in the past…

Knowing that someday Universe will teach you the lessons of humanity and you will become a victim of such injustices yourself, doesn’t bring me comfort, but I’m frightened by how many more need to suffer before folks like you learn your lesson?

Sincerely,
