| I may sound a little bitter here, but to be honest - I am not. The Truth hurts.
Have we lost the war in Iraq? The sad truth of it is - YES. As Noble and Decent as the cause of going to war in Iraq was, this government did not have the right values behind this undertaking, nor did it have any idea of how to win. At first, it was "An Imminent Threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction". Then, it changed to "Preemptive Strike". After that, it became "Bringing Democracy to Iraqis". And now - "It's Better for America to fight Terrorists in Iraq than Here"... I don't think this government - President Bush - has any notion "Why Should You Do the Right Thing?" If he did, he would not have to jump from one excuse to the next, trying to substitute ignorance for the real values or decency.
And without the real values and the lack of concern for the lives of so many people, on all sides, we were unable to consolidate and rally the Decent People throughout the world in this war against Evil. The only thing we achieved was galvanizing the opposition to this war and strengthening the Evil in Iraq, America and the rest of the world.
We went to Iraq to bring freedom to its people, and the result is a country that is ruled by religious fundamentalists and those who oppose or don’t like us. We went to Iraq to make our country safer - the jury is still out on that, but what is quite clear, how much stronger and cohesive the voice of Evil had become here in America.
If anytime soon the voice of decency calls to support someone in another part of the world, or again to rise against the storm of Evil, there will be a very little support and an incredibly strong opposition, preaching the failures of “The War in Iraq” and “We Should Mind Our Own Business” – the one thing that Evil wants. So much for our efforts and so sad for so many sacrifices...
Of course, we could blame everything on the President Bush... But we allowed him!
